Cheap Parts vs Inexpensive Parts
We are starting to see a proliferation of Cheap
Parts coming to the US from "overseas" .
Especially Timing Belts and Tensioner to mention
2 . Now that these are here, and being sold for as
little as 1/2 of the regular price, customers need
to know what can happen . We have reports of the
tensioner's coming apart in 15,000 miles and some
sooner. Belts breaking at way under 40,000 miles.
These are suppose to last 60,000 miles . Results
are ruined heads and motors.
In the last year we have re built several customer
motors (for you who are not familiar with us we
are an Internet Pioneer, have built over 800 of the
1.6 motor as well as 150 + TDI motors) that were
just fine until either a belt or tensioner failed early !
You can buy parts that are perfect quality at an
inexpensive (we are NOT knocking your VW Dealer,
they can be expensive at times BUT they have the
OEM parts - As Do We - your car should be equipped
with ! ) price . However Be Careful Of CHEAP Parts ..
A word to the wise here, changing your timing belt
and tensioner is important to the life of your motor.
Do it at the recommended interval, and ONLY USE
OEM Quality Parts !
